About the role

The CAMHS Clinician – Psychologist provides assessment, counselling, education, and therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents, and their families experiencing mental health issues. The role is accountable for maintaining high clinical standards, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community organisations, supporting staff through education and guidance, and contributing to quality improvement, research, and policy development to promote positive consumer outcomes.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide a therapeutic/clinical assessment and intervention service to a client base consisting of children, adolescents, and their families
  • Provide professional consultancy, supervision, training, and education while ensuring services are delivered in a culturally responsive and inclusive manner.
  • Contribute to research, evaluation, and regional team administration while maintaining responsibility for ongoing professional development and education.
  • Contribute expertise in all aspects of quality management to improve mental health practice and service delivery

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification in Master of Clinical Psychology or Health Psychology recognised by the PsyBA and general registration with the PsyBA, or Provisional Registration with the PsyBA
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing and treating complex child and adolescent mental health presentations using evidence-based interventions
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with external agencies and stakeholders
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to culturally responsive and family-centred practice
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, supervision, and supporting student learning and quality improvement
