Join our Cardiology Research Team

Embedded within the Cardiology Research team at Flinders Medical Centre, you will support and deliver high-quality scientific work across an active research program.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Director of Cardiology Research, this role is responsible for providing high level project leadership and scientific expertise in the management and delivery of clinical trials within the Cardiology Research Portfolio at the Flinders Medical Centre and associated sites.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Apply advanced knowledge of hospital and external health providers standards to implement complex innovative research projects with high level of competence and limited professional direction to ensure high quality patient care and research outputs.
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with study sponsor representatives, research team members and trial participants to ensure the successful delivery of cardiology research studies.
  • Demonstrate positive role modelling behaviour for colleagues including standards of excellence.
  • Conduct internal and external audits of clinical trial sites, vendors, and sponsors.
  • Identify discrepancies and ensure proper documentation of corrections.
  • Oversee data management for research projects. Assist Cardiology Trials Unit Manager in planning and timely delivery of the collected clinic data to meet study data-cuts.
  • Monitor progress of cardiology studies across portfolio to assess the need for and to implement strategies to ensure the conduct of quality research and provide insights to Cardiology Trials Unit Manager on the achievement of expected timelines and deliverables, efficient use of human and practical resources.

About you:

  • Tertiary qualification in Medical Science or equivalent, with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in clinical trials and studies.
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding multi-disciplinary research teams.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders to achieve mutual understanding and agreed outcomes.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to priorities workload and competing demands and conflicting priorities.
  • Experience in Human Research Ethics Committee and Research Governance Office requirements for clinical research and other statutory and regulatory requirements including comprehensive understanding of International Conference of Harmonisation - Good Clinical Practice guidelines and other relevant National/International codes of conduct for clinical research.
  • A demonstrated capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team, to demonstrate initiative and to manage the available resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal influence, written and verbal communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts and develop effective and professional working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, especially senior clinicians.
