Occupational Therapist | Join the Children's Assessment Team that makes a difference at Marion GP Plus 

An exciting opportunity for a rewarding part-time role as an Occupational Therapist AHP2/AHP3 (dependent on skills and experience) in the multidisciplinary Children's Assessment Team, within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, based at Marion GP Plus.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Child Assessment Team Leader and the Child Development Service Manager, this role is responsible for delivering culturally appropriate, equitable, comprehensive, high quality and contemporary integrated care focused assessment services for children, young people and their families of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive diagnostic assessment for children and young people presenting with developmental delays and differences. This would include Occupational Therapy assessment for delays in fine and gross motor skills, play skills, self-care and adaptive skills. Assessment may also include the individual’s sensory processing profile to support diagnostic formulation of neurodevelopmental differences/disorders.  
  • Contribute to the development of an integrated team approach.
  • Professional responsibility for delivery of Occupational Therapy assessment services of complex cases and differential diagnostic formulation support to the team.
  • Case coordination which requires synthesizing information provided by parents/caregivers and others working and supporting the child.
  • As required to contribute to supervision and training for Paediatric Occupational Therapists and students
  • Participating in the overall management of the service in accordance with SALHN policy by observing administrative and clinical protocols, participating in relevant staff planning discussions, and providing ongoing maintenance of clinical assessment and therapy materials. 

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated broad experience working as an Occupational Therapist within the paediatric field.
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience working as a paediatric Occupational Therapist.  
  • Ability to undertake specialist assessments of children with complex developmental challenges, utilizing both standardised and informal assessment tools to understand highly complex clinical presentations by applying knowledge of child development process, theory, and practice.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise by supervising less experienced Occupational Therapists, undergraduate and postgraduate students, fostering their professional development.
  • Exhibit highly developed verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and community stakeholders
