About the role

The senior Speech Pathologist is an extensively experienced and highly competent clinician who delivers advanced clinical services to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health population and also assumes a clinical / professional leadership role within the organization. The senior Speech Pathologist is responsible for contributing to improvements in the quality, safety and community needs-driven distribution of services across CAMHS and within the needs and demand.

Key duties of the role

  • Contribute to the delivery and evaluation of comprehensive and proficient speech pathology clinical care to children, young people and their families within evidence informed framework
  • Demonstrate a commitment to consumer participation and effective team leadership by ensuring the delivery of culturally responsive, inclusive, and person-centred services.
  • Provide clinical leadership and expert knowledge to speech pathologists and multidisciplinary staff for CAMHS to implement consistency of practice standards and local service outcomes
  • Contribute expertise in all aspects of quality management to improve speech pathology and service delivery
  • Foster a positive culture and safe work environment by contributing clinical expertise within a learning environment and taking responsibility for ongoing individual development and education

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience providing speech pathology services to children and adolescents with complex mental health presentations.
  • Proven experience working within multidisciplinary teams and delivering assessment, intervention, and consultation services.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision of staff and students.
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation, mental health principles, and relevant health and welfare policies.
