About the Role:

As an Enrolled Nurse within the Surgical Wards at Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to the assessment, planning and delivery of nursing care, supporting patients throughout their surgical journey from admission through to recovery and discharge.

The Surgical Wards form part of the Division of Surgical Specialties and Anaesthesia, a dynamic and multidisciplinary service providing comprehensive surgical, procedural and perioperative care. As a key member of our team, you'll provide exceptional patient care whilst working alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams in a supportive, collaborative environment.

LMH surgical wards each have main specialty groups:

  • 2B - UGI, Gastroenterology, Breast/Endocrine and General Surgery
  • 2C - Orthopaedics
  • 2E - Colorectal and major Urology
  • 2FX - Short stay patients such as ENT, minor Urology and General Surgery
  • 2G - Acute Surgical Unit

Modbury Hospital wards include:

  • 1 East - mixed surgical ward including Orthopaedics, ENT, General Surgery, Urology and Gynaecology

In this role you will:

  • deliver high-quality nursing care to surgical patients across various specialities
  • work collaboratively with Registered Nurses and medical teams
  • support patients through their surgical journey with compassion and professionalism
  • contribute to positive patient outcomes in a fast-paced, rewarding environment

Working alongside surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, allied health professionals and support staff, you will care for patients with a diverse range of clinical needs in a fast-paced environment that values teamwork, professionalism and continuous improvement. You will be encouraged to develop your clinical skills, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, support the education of patients and colleagues, and participate in a culture that embraces evidence-based practice, research and learning.

To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as an enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. In order to administer medicines, must have completed a Board-approved program of study which includes an administration of medicines unit.
