About the role

The Clinical Nurse provides client-centred nursing care to Aboriginal, Guardianship of the Chief Executive and vulnerable young people within the Metropolitan Youth Health (MYH) service. The role focuses on prevention, early intervention, specialist health responses, and supporting young people and young parents impacted by adverse childhood experiences through quality care, education and collaborative practice.

Key duties of the role

  • Provides person-centred nursing care and case management to vulnerable young people, including assessment, care planning, interventions and multidisciplinary support within a youth health setting.
  • Supports change management, rostering, resource oversight and contributes to organisation-wide projects, including clinical protocols and process improvements.
  • Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience
  • Participate in clinical audits and service delivery audits ensuring input from relevant client priority populations
  • Provides nursing leadership, supports continuity of care and client case management, and acts as a resource person through clinical expertise and portfolio responsibilities within the MYH service.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrated competence in nursing practice with experience supporting young people and vulnerable consumers.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience providing clinical leadership, mentoring students and supporting less experienced nursing staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, quality improvement, consumer rights and contemporary healthcare issues.
