Every patient admission at Flinders Medical Centre starts with someone like you. As an Admissions Booking Officer, you'll keep bookings accurate, timely, and patient-centred across one of SALHN's flagship hospitals. This full-time contract role runs through to February 2027 and is available now.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for the provision of an effective and efficient service to all Elective and Emergency outpatient clinic patients requiring admission. 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Promote and contribute to leading a culture of effective and optimum customer service provision that is customer focused, is culturally appropriate and professional to members of the public and key stakeholders,
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to identify opportunities and evaluate the provision of administrative services in fulfilling operational requirements,
  • Liaising with clinical staff for the management of patient elective booking, admission, and pre-admission requirements,
  • Continually prioritising workloads in high demand area and be adaptable to short notice changes to elective surgery in situations of demand management or State of Emergency,
  • Actively maintaining waiting lists by ensuring timely and accurate data entry, up to date deferral entry and prompt removals following removal process,
  • Working in close unison with the clinical staff for the benefit of the patient and unit to maintain the active elective waiting list with due consideration to urgency, length of wait, equipment needs, surgeon expertise for procedure, bed availability ICCU (Intensive Care Unit), High Dependency, homewards and theatre availability

About you:

  • Ability to manage daily correspondence and provide accurate and timely data entry and work processing services,
  • Ability to liaise with the ward staff and bed manager regarding the allocation of beds for patient admissions,
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team,
  • Proven ability to recognise and discreetly deal with confidential matters,
  • Proven ability to meet strategic deadlines,
  • Diplomatic skills with appropriate and sensitive issues,
  • Experience in patient related care areas,
  • Reception experience
