About the role

The Nurse/Midwife Educator is responsible for providing clinical education, professional development, and practice support to nursing and midwifery staff. The role utilises contemporary clinical knowledge and experience to develop and deliver education programs, resources, and learning opportunities that support safe, effective, and evidence-based practice. The position contributes to improving clinical standards by identifying practice gaps, supporting policy implementation, fostering a positive learning culture, and leading education initiatives that enhance staff capability and patient/client outcomes.

Key duties of the role

  • Apply clinical expertise and evidence-based practice to support education, competency development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of nursing/midwifery practice.
  • Contribute to the development of, implementation of, and monitoring of corporate policies and processes and lead in their area of expertise.
  • Hold a contemporary professional practice portfolio containing evidence of postgraduate qualifications, learning and practice experience that underpin a demonstrable application of knowledge and skills commensurate with the level and type of practice expected of the role.
  • Contribute specific expertise to monitor and evaluate research activities in order to improve nursing or midwifery practice and service delivery.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and expert advice to support education services, develop staff capability, implement competency assessment frameworks, and evaluate nursing/midwifery education programs using evidence-based practices.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate
  • Demonstrated experience in nursing/midwifery education, staff development, and competency assessment.
  • Ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate education programs using contemporary education principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, problem-solving, and change management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, professional standards, quality improvement, and contemporary healthcare practices.
