About the Role:

Join our multidisciplinary Mental Health team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. As an Aboriginal Mental Health Cultural Worker, you'll play a vital role in delivering culturally safe, recovery-oriented mental health care across community, acute and rehabilitation settings, while building strong partnerships with consumers, local communities and health services. This is an opportunity to use your cultural knowledge and connections to help shape accessible, equitable care and improve wellbeing across the Riverland Mallee Coorong region.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Criteria 

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with Aboriginal communities, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience supporting and advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly within community, health or mental health settings.
• Understanding of Aboriginal cultures and the historical and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal individuals, families and communities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and maintain professional, ethical and confidential practice.
• Empathy for people experiencing mental health challenges, with a commitment to delivering culturally safe, consumer-focused care.

Desired Criteria 

• Qualifications or training in mental health, Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid, or a willingness to undertake further relevant study.
• Experience in counselling, group facilitation, health promotion or community development.
• Knowledge of recovery-oriented mental health practice, Aboriginal health priorities, relevant legislation, and local community support services.
