About the role

The Paediatric Survivorship Oncologist provides high-quality specialist oncology care to children and adolescents requiring survivorship management within the Michael Rice Centre for Haematology/Oncology at WCHN. The role provides clinical leadership in paediatric oncology survivorship, supports education and research activities, and promotes evidence-based practice and improved patient outcomes.

Key duties of the role

• Provision of high standard clinical services to patients using evidence based practice.
• A team environment, which promotes positivity, learning and development, safety and welfare of employees, acknowledges differences, and encourages creativity, innovation and honesty.
• Contributes to and facilitates education programs by supporting the learning, development, and assessment of junior medical staff, trainees, undergraduates, and other health professionals in paediatric oncology.
• Initiate, support and contribute to clinical research initiatives within the specialty area.
• Leading the unit and participating in quality management, quality assurance and risk management activities and ongoing improvement of services.
• Contribution to the ongoing review of Credentialing & Scope of Clinical Practice for medical staff.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
• Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
• Demonstrated clinical experience in paediatric oncology and oncology survivorship care.
• Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training programs.
• Proven leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills within a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of contemporary paediatric oncology practices, research, and public health policies.
