Freedom of Information Officer – Supporting Better Outcomes

Join SALHN as a Freedom of Information Officer and play a key role in promoting transparency, accountability, and access to information. In this rewarding role, you will manage FOI applications, coordinate the release of information in line with legislative requirements, and provide expert support to staff and members of the public. Working within a collaborative team, you will deliver a professional, consumer-focused service while ensuring accurate document management, timely decision-making, and compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

About you:

  • Completing the SA State Records Freedom of Information Certificate course enabling eligibility for appointment (and designation by the Chief Executive Officer), as an Accredited Freedom of Information Officer
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to use judgement, initiative and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
  • Sound knowledge of the FOI Act, Privacy Principles and the related processes required in management of applications and requests for health information
  • Experience working within legislative practices and interpreting legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise a degree of initiative, to work effectively, independently of supervision in the achievement of agreed outcomes
