Overview:

  • The Manager, Policy and Legislation is a key member of the Office of the Chief Pharmacist participating in the strategic management and administration of programs and projects that promote systematic improvement in the safety, quality and cost effectiveness of healthcare and health outcomes for all South Australians.

  • The Manager, Policy and Legislation contribute to the safe, and effective use of medicines and therapeutic goods in South Australia through supporting development and implementation of contemporary policy to control access and use of drugs in South Australia as legislated for in the Controlled Substances Act 1984.

  • The Manager, Policy and Legislation is responsible for the state’s involvement in the Advisory Committee on Medicines Scheduling, supports medicines recalls and is the Executive Officer for the Controlled Substances Advisory Council.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment).

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact).

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Condition

  • A Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent), giving eligibility for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia. is required for this position.
