About the role

Provide friendly customer service in a busy hospital café, preparing food and beverages, making barista coffee, processing sales, and maintaining food safety and hygiene standards. Staff may be rostered over a 7-day roster on an on-call casual basis. 

Key duties of the role

  • Food and beverage preparation and serving, stock management and customer service in the Gilbert and Nic Nath Café's.
  • Barista coffee making including operating the espresso coffee machine to prepare coffee and other hot drinks to the required standards.
  • Prepare food and beverages according to standard operating procedures, recipes, and quality standards and serve customers promptly.
  • Operating POS and EFTPOS systems in an accurate and timely manner according to standard procedures and customer service principles
  • Completion of cleaning duties to required standards whilst maintaining a clean and hygienic environment

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a Café or Hospitality environment.
  • Extensive experience in Barista coffee making to be able to consistently produce a high-quality product.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively as part of an effective team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and customers at all levels, cultures, and backgrounds.
