Specialist Dermatologist Wanted | Shape Skin Health Outcomes Across Adelaide's South

Flinders Medical Centre is looking for a Fellowship-qualified Consultant Dermatologist to join the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network on a part-time basis through to June 2027. You will deliver specialist dermatology services across inpatient and outpatient settings at one of South Australia's key tertiary facilities, working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for providing specialist dermatological assessment, diagnosis, and management for complex patients across inpatient and outpatient settings at Flinders Medical Centre, while contributing to team-based care and supporting junior medical staff.

Duties for the role will include:
  • Encouraging and supporting teamwork and coordination amongst medical, scientific, allied health, nursing and administrative staff to ensure better service outcomes for patients, their home care givers and the hospital,
  • Ensuring where additional medical problems are identified, timely referral is made to the appropriate specialist(s),
  • Ensuring all necessary components of follow-up of patients and/or their relatives, where necessary within outpatient clinics, are undertaken,
  • Ensuring patients and their relatives are involved in informed decision making about their care,
  • Supervising junior medical staff as required to facilitate and assist them in the appropriate management of patients and to aid their training,
  • Participate in teaching at medical student, graduate and postgraduate levels. Assist in the development, administration and organisation of programs for teaching in these areas as directed by the Head of Unit

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent,
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (FACD); or another qualification as defined in the SA Health Visiting Medical Specialist Enterprise Agreement 2019 (or its successor),
  • Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Dermatology,
  • Demonstrated professional integrity, leadership and motivational skills,
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
