About the role

The Manager – Paediatric Admissions and Emergency reviews and manages the 24/7 Emergency Department clerical roster to meet service demands, patient care, and rostering requirements. The Manager prepares fair and equitable rosters, supports staff multiskilling, and fosters teamwork across Paediatric Admissions and Emergency Clerical Services. The Manager delivers high-quality customer service, resolves complaints, advocates for patients, promotes consumer feedback, and provides staff training.

Key duties of the role

  • Resolve difficult enquiries and customer complaints about administrative processes.
  • Assist in bed coordination activities with Bed Coordination team.
  • Develop strategies and promote initiatives that streamline the admission process for patients, hospital staff, and clinical staff.
  • Regularly review the 24/7 clerical roster in the Emergency Department.
  • Facilitate opportunities for multiskilling of staff to ensure service delivery is always maintained to a high standard.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in staff management, leadership, performance development and coordinating services.
  • Knowledge of the principles of medical record management.
  • Ability to liaise effective with a variety of staff within a large multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritise own workloads as well as monitor the overall service delivery of the unit.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including conflict resolution skills.
