Step Into Leadership | Associate Nurse Unit Manager, Outpatient Services 

Flinders Medical Centre is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to take on an Associate Nurse Unit Manager role within Outpatient Support Services on a full-time contract through to October 2027. You'll provide hands-on clinical leadership across a busy outpatient environment, supporting your team to deliver safe, high-quality care to a diverse patient population.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in the day-to-day clinical and operational leadership of Outpatient Support Services, acting as a key resource for staff, patients, and the broader multidisciplinary team.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Assists the OSS Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent to provide timely, useful and relevant information to clinicians and managers, to assist quality clinical and management decisions and quality outcomes,
  • Assist with data extraction and analysis to assist with continuous quality improvement activities,
  • Assists and supports the OSS Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical and education activities,
  • Plan and coordinate services including those from other disciplines,
  • Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience,
  • Assist the OSS Nurse Unit Manager and the OSS Nurse Manager to maintain a learning culture by being a resource person, encouraging reflection and professional development, and assisting others to maintain portfolios/records of learning

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team,
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience,
  • Demonstrated competence in clinical practice in accordance with relevant standards,
  • Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses
