If you are a highly experienced Occupational Therapist with advanced clinical reasoning and leadership skills to support best practice disability-focused care, this is a unique opportunity to shape outcomes for patients and support the broader allied health team.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Occupational Therapy Manager, this role will be involved in providing advanced occupational therapy assessment, intervention, and discharge planning for patients with disability across the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN).

Duties for the role will include:

  • Work with other Occupational Therapists to provide expert support/consultancy/education/advice regarding best practice clinical management of less complex NDIS eligible patients.
  • Provide leadership and expert specialist consultancy and advice/support to other health professionals in the broader treating team to support efficient and timely discharge planning processes for complex NDIS eligible patients. 
  • Lead and promote continuous quality improvement initiatives to provide Occupational Therapy best practice care for SALHN acute NDIS eligible patients that include defined performance standards and increase efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key external stakeholders such as the NDIA and DHW to advocate for systems/process change to support the discharge planning of complex NDIS eligible inpatients.
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated extensive clinical experience at a senior level in the provision of clinical services to adults including those with complex disability.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated high level experience in the provision of complex Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention, AT prescription and reporting for NDIS processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating, planning, implementing and monitoring service development projects and processes.
  • Demonstrated proven experience in establishing effective relationships at different levels within an agency and with external parties.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and leading forums, meetings and consultations to collaboratively develop solutions to complex issues.
