Nurse Manager – Shape the Future of Women's and Children's at SALHN!

Flinders Medical Centre is seeking an experienced nursing leader to take the helm of the Women's and Children's Division within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. In this full-time, fixed-term role through to March 2027, you'll oversee clinical operations, lead a committed multidisciplinary team, and champion the delivery of high-quality, family-centred care across one of South Australia's leading tertiary hospitals. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Advanced Nursing Director, this role is responsible for leading the day-to-day clinical operations and nursing workforce of the Women's and Children's Division at Flinders Medical Centre, driving quality care outcomes and supporting your team to perform at their best.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Integrate contemporary information and evidence with personal experience to support the decision making, innovative thinking and objective analysis that are expected at this level. e.g. Expert clinical knowledge to provide management activities that contribute to improve and optimise nursing/midwifery care. 
  • Ensure that service provision and the activities of the Division are customer focussed and professionally and effectively conducted by contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of business partners and external clients,
  • Ensure the effective management of human, financial and physical assets within the unit/Divisions through appropriate planning and allocation of resources to achieve agreed business and strategic plans,
  • Use available information systems: to inform decision making, to implement and co-ordinate processes for quality improvement, to monitor and analyse incidents and accidents, to ensure quality and safety is not compromised, to evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving conflict resolution and negotiation,
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet timelines,
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the healthcare setting,
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience,
  • Demonstrated competence in midwifery practice in accordance with the relevant standards,
  • Demonstrated experience in management and leadership roles
