About the Role:
Mental health nursing in the community is some of the most meaningful and complex work in the sector. If you're a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse with a commitment to recovery-oriented care, the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) has multiple ongoing, full-time opportunities for you to make a genuine difference across its Acute and Assertive Community Mental Health Teams in Salisbury.
Your Role in the Team
Working within the NALHN Mental Health Service – Salisbury Adult Service, you will provide skilled clinical assessment, short-term intervention, and assertive follow-up to adults experiencing acute mental illness in the northern Adelaide community. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and developing evidence-based care plans in collaboration with consumers and their support networks
- Delivering assertive outreach and home-based care to consumers with complex or high-acuity presentations
- Coordinating care across multidisciplinary teams, GPs, and community services to support safe transitions and continuity of care
- Contributing to risk assessment, safety planning, and timely clinical documentation within SA Health frameworks
What You'll Bring
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA, with no restrictions on practice
- Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing, including acute or community-based settings
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2009 (SA) and recovery-oriented practice principles
- Confidence conducting independent clinical assessments and managing risk in a community environment
- Strong communication skills across multidisciplinary and consumer-facing contexts
- Current, unrestricted South Australian driver's licence suitable for community outreach work
To be eligible for this position, you must be:
- Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing/Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and who holds a current practicing certificate.
- Must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services
