Join SALHN as a Volunteer Coordinator and help support our commitment to quality patient care. 

Oversee the provision of comprehensive and specialised volunteer services throughout Southern Adelaide Palliative Services (SAPS).

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of volunteer services, ensuring appropriately trained and supported volunteer staff across all areas of service and observing SALHN and government policies in relation to volunteers.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Develop and review policies and guidelines in accordance with current SALHN and government policies in relation to volunteer matters with specific emphasis on volunteering in a palliative setting.
  • Undertake service planning, development and evaluation of volunteer services being mindful of changes in community expectations, needs and trends, in consultation with related organisations.
  • Establishing appropriate work priorities and practices and regularly reviewing their effectiveness.
  • Providing overall management and supervision of all aspects of the SAPS volunteer service in Laurel Hospice and in the Community Service.
  • Conducting recruitment, selection of appropriate volunteers, training, and orientation for deployment throughout SAPS.
  • Facilitating in-service training and education for all volunteers, including ensuring mandatory training for volunteers is up to date. 
  • Maintain effective communication with volunteers through newsletters, meetings, and other channels.
  • Liaising with the clinical team regarding current issues for clients and volunteers.

About you:

  • Experience in developing policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in service development
  • Proven organisational and time management skills
  • Experience in designing and conducting education and training programs
  • Proven experience in basic computing skills, including email and word processing
