Geriatric care demands physiotherapists who can see the whole person — not just the presenting condition. At the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), you'll bring that perspective to older adults across the northern metropolitan region, working within a multidisciplinary team that is genuinely committed to restoring function, independence, and quality of life. The physiotherapy role within the Geriatrics teams works across inpatient and community services and maybe based at Modbury Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital, or with our community teams.
Your Role in the Team
Joining the Northern Adelaide Geriatric Service within NALHN, you will deliver evidence informed physiotherapy assessment and intervention to older adults in community and ambulatory settings. This includes full time and part time positions with temporary contracts and ongoing positions available at either AHP1 or AHP2 classification, dependent on your experience.
- Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and develop goal-directed treatment plans for geriatric clients
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care
- Contribute to discharge planning and community reintegration, including home visits and functional assessments where required
- Support clinical education, supervision, and quality improvement initiatives within the team
What You Bring
- Degree in Physiotherapy and current registration with AHPRA
- Experience or demonstrated interest in aged care, geriatric rehabilitation, or community health settings
- Sound understanding of functional assessment tools and falls prevention frameworks relevant to older adult populations
- Ability to manage an independent caseload while contributing meaningfully to a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication skills suited to working with older adults, carers, and diverse clinical colleagues
- Familiarity with SA Health clinical documentation systems or willingness to learn quickly
To be eligible for this position, you must an Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships.
