About the role

The Head of Unit, Respiratory Physiotherapy functions as a specialist clinical expert in the physiotherapy management of chronic and acute respiratory conditions, neuromuscular conditions, and functional neurological disorder within WCHN.

Key duties of the role

  • Act as a clinical expert of physiotherapy management in the fields of chronic and acute respiratory conditions, neuromuscular conditions, and functional neurological disorder
  • Team Leadership of the Respiratory Physiotherapy service for WCH inpatients and outpatients.
  • Lead safety and quality processes for the unit and facilitate and support ongoing improvement initiatives
  • Foster staff participation in research programs and support opportunities to attend and present at state-wide, national, or international forums

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
  • Extensive experience in paediatric and women’s physiotherapy, particularly respiratory and neuromuscular conditions
  • Demonstrated experience in team coordination, staff supervision and student teaching
  • Knowledge of physiotherapy management, safety and quality processes, multidisciplinary practice and evidence-based care
