SALHN's Statewide Eating Disorder Service is looking for an experienced Nurse Consultant to bring clinical leadership, specialist expertise, and a commitment to equitable access to this dedicated statewide team. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Team Manager SEDS, this role is integral to leading specialist consultation, supporting system-wide capability, and helping ensure consistent, evidence-based care for consumers across South Australia.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Integrate contemporary information and evidence with personal experience to support the decision making, innovative thinking and objective analysis that is expected at this level eg Expert clinical knowledge underpins and informs their ability to support, lead and/or provide expert clinical care to improve and optimise nursing care.
  • Provide direct, expert clinical nursing care, select and implement different therapeutic interventions, provide individual case management to a defined population of patients and evaluate progress.
  • Co-ordinate and lead referral management utilising appropriate systems and tools to ensure efficiency and safety in referral processes and management.
  • Hold a contemporary professional practice portfolio containing evidence of postgraduate qualifications, learning and practice experience that underpin a demonstrable application of knowledge and skills commensurate with the level and type of practice expected of the role.
  • Establishing, implementing and evaluating systems, which ensure best practice/evidence and patient outcomes.
  • Provides leadership and direction, acts a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person.

About you:

  • Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds a current practicing certificate.
  • Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in the treatment of Eating Disorders in relation to nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses and or midwives.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential.
