About the Role:
Geriatric medicine is one of the most clinically rich and rewarding specialties in adult medicine — and Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is looking for an Advanced Trainee or Registrar ready to grow within a supported, consultant-led team at Modbury Hospital.
What You'll Be Doing
Based at Modbury Hospital within the Northern Adelaide Geriatric Service, you will work across inpatient, consultative, and ambulatory streams, contributing to the comprehensive care of older adults across the northern metropolitan region. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing complex inpatient presentations including delirium, falls, frailty, and multimorbidity under consultant supervision
- Contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings, discharge planning, and goals-of-care conversations
- Participating in outpatient and ambulatory geriatric assessment clinics
- Supporting junior medical staff and students through teaching and clinical oversight
What You'll Bring
- MBBS or equivalent, with current general registration with AHPRA
- Demonstrated experience in general medicine or geriatric medicine at registrar or advanced trainee level
- Strong assessment and management skills for older patients with complex, multi-system conditions
- Effective communication within multidisciplinary teams and with patients and families navigating difficult decisions
- Commitment to clinical education and continuous professional development
- Eligibility to work within SA Health and NALHN credentialing requirements
To be eligible for this position, you must have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
As per the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Medical Practitioner will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
