About the role

Aboriginal young people and their families are at the heart of this role, where you will plan and deliver specialised clinical health care within a multidisciplinary youth health setting, guide colleagues in culturally appropriate practice, and build partnerships with community groups and health organisations to strengthen the support

Key duties of the role

  • Culturally informed Health care and care coordination services are planned and delivered at MYH sites and via outreach.
  • Youth Primary Health Care projects/programs are managed at Metropolitan Youth Health sites and via outreach.
  • Young people their families and communities are involved in service provision. 
  • Quality management, professional standards and risk management activities and ongoing improvement of services are maintained.
  • A positive and safe work culture are encouraged and fostered within the Metropolitan Youth Health.

Skills and Experience

  • Cert IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice), or equivalent lived experience with willingness to obtain
  • Eligibility for registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia
  • Demonstrated experience delivering clinical health assessment, treatment, referral, and psychosocial support to Aboriginal young people with complex needs
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and provide cultural guidance to non-Aboriginal colleagues
