About the role

The CaFHS Strategic Aboriginal Cultural Lead is accountable to the Executive Director of Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing in the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) for the development and implementation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health related strategies and models across CaFHS.

Key duties of the role

• Provide strategic direction, leadership and innovative approaches to providing health services and building a culturally safe, responsive, and competent workforce across all CaFHS
• Provide expert advice, leadership and effective advocacy across WCHN to increase the uptake of CaFHS services, and facilitate the embedding of, culturally sensitive care and support to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers. 
• Lead and oversee to the development of operational policy and/or procedures with a focus on providing high quality services to Aboriginal
• Provide advice and coordination to leadership members across the CaFHS to address Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
• Lead, motivate, inspire and build the capacity of the teams to achieve excellence through coaching, supporting and developing team members

Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and stakeholders
• Extensive experience developing and implementing culturally safe Aboriginal health programs, frameworks or service models
• Extensive experience leading change, strategic planning, service improvement and complex stakeholder engagement
• Strong knowledge of Aboriginal health, cultural safety, social determinants of health and relevant SA Health frameworks and policies
