About the role

The Senior Internal Auditor is a key role within the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) Internal Audit Function, accountable to the Manager, Internal Audit for supporting the development and delivery of the WCHN Internal Audit Plan. The role is responsible for planning, conducting and reporting on internal audits, as well as managing and undertaking special projects and investigations on behalf of WCHN.

Key duties of the role

  • Prepare Internal Audit reports for review by the Manager, Internal Audit prior to submission to WCHN Executive
  • Maintain and monitor agreed management action plans arising from internal audit and assurance reviews, follow up with action owners to ensure timely implementation, escalate critical or overdue actions to the Manager, Internal Audit, and prepare monthly status reports
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with executive and management across all directorates
  • Undertake assurance reviews and investigations, provide advice on findings, prepare reports, and maintain confidentiality, integrity and professional standards
  • Contribute to quality assurance, continuous improvement and streamlining of processes and systems

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, business management, accounting, finance, economics or a co-related discipline
  • Minimum five years’ experience in assurance, audit, risk management, consulting or advisory services
  • Significant experience delivering audit and assurance projects, including planning, testing and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex information and develop sound conclusions and recommendations
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary audit, assurance and risk management principles, standards and practices
  • Relevant professional qualification or degree in auditing, accounting, risk management, business or a related discipline
