The Advanced Safety Nurse Manager is a permanent, full-time leadership role, physically based within the Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide's southern metropolitan area. Sitting across the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, the position drives patient safety and quality improvement initiatives that directly shape patient outcomes and clinical culture network-wide.

About the role:

The Safety Manager SALHN, has responsibility for ensuring the effectiveness of systems and strategies that enable the delivery of the LHN’s patient incident systems, clinical risk management, litigation, medical credentialing and incident reporting. This includes ongoing strategic monitoring and evaluation of clinical and non-clinical service quality improvement and assurance programmes and the identification, assessment and management of associated risks.

The successful applicant will:

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of patient safety and clinical risk management.
  • Have extensive experience in leading or initiating strategies designed to improve patient safety, quality and the effective management of clinical risk, in order to increase the effectiveness and accountability of an organisation.
  • Experienced in a range of project, policy development and planning work involving leading a multidisciplinary team to achieve significant outcomes.
  • Understand the principles and practice and the legal framework relating to patient safety, clinical risk management, investigations and mitigation, in the context of governance within the South Australian public health care system.

This is a single vacancy, with three possible appointment classifications. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.
