Join our Nursing Team at Drug and Alcohol Services SA (DASSA)

Join SA Health as a part-time RN2 Clinical Liaison Nurse in our Drug and Alcohol Services, where you will coordinate seamless care transitions between hospital and community settings for patients with substance use disorders.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager Central Services, this role is integral to ensuring continuity of care for patients presenting with alcohol and other drug-related concerns.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing proficient clinical nursing care to patients referred to the hospital Consultation Liaison Service with high severity alcohol and drug related problems and concurrent comorbid medical issues.
  • Monitoring patient/client care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved on a daily basis.
  • Working with the patient and their non-DASSA nursing, medical and allied health treating team, to plan and provide care for the patient.
  • Act to resolve local and/or immediate nursing care or service delivery problems.
  • Working with services and agencies outside the acute hospital care setting to ensure continuity of care to and from community-based services.
  • Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience.
  • Participate in clinical auditing, clinical trials and/or evaluative research.
  • Provide shift by shift leadership in the provision of nursing care within a team or unit and facilitate patient flow.

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
  • Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
  • Good clinical assessment skills with alcohol and other drug withdrawal management highly beneficial.
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines, whilst working under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the clinical setting.
