 Bone Densitometrist

Join the medical imaging team at Flinders Medical Centre as a part-time Bone Densitometrist on a fixed-term contract through to February 2027, delivering high-quality DXA scanning services within one of South Australia's leading tertiary hospitals. Working within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, you will play a meaningful role in supporting clinical teams to diagnose and manage osteoporosis and related conditions for patients across the southern Adelaide community.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for assisting in the provision of an effective and efficient Bone Density service by acquiring and processing the bone density scans in a timely manner and performing routine quality control scans. 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Deliver high-quality bone density services to inpatient and outpatient clients,
  • Encourage and foster a positive culture and safe working environment,
  • Communicates views and concerns in a constructive manner,
  • Continuously improving Bone Density Service,
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer service

About you:

  • A Degree in Medical Radiation or a qualification that is recognised by the Australian and New Zealand Bone Mineral Society, which permits the holder to undertake the Bone Densitometry Clinical Accreditation training course,
  • Excellent interpersonal skill and the ability to communicate clearly and affectively with a range of people from different backgrounds, particularly elderly citizens,
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision,
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a small team and positively interact and work with all levels of departmental and organisational staff,
  • Demonstrate ability to use own initiative to achieve the desired bone densitometry scan outcome,
  • Experience in the practical day-to-day operation of dual-energy x-ray absorptiometers,
  • Experience in performing scans and operating a Lunar Prodigy densitometer,
  • Experience in performing and processing a range of bone densitometry scans required for the routine evaluation of bone density and for research purposes
