About the Role:
Mental health recovery is shaped by many hands — and for the people supported by the Modbury Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit, specialist nutrition care is a meaningful part of that journey. SA Health's Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is seeking an experienced Senior Dietitian to join this dedicated inpatient rehabilitation team on a part-time basis, with the contract running through to 1 October 2027.
Your Role in the Rehabilitation Team
Embedded within the NALHN Mental Health Service at Modbury, you will deliver evidence-based dietetic assessment and intervention for adults in a mental health rehabilitation setting. Your scope will include:
- Conducting comprehensive nutritional assessments and developing individualised care plans for consumers with complex mental health presentations
- Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team — including psychiatrists, occupational therapists, social workers, and nursing staff — to support whole-person recovery goals
- Providing education and skill-building to consumers and carers around nutrition, metabolic health, and the dietary impacts of psychotropic medication
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and supporting the development of junior staff and students on placement
What You Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics and eligibility for membership with Dietitians Australia
- Demonstrable experience in clinical dietetics, with exposure to mental health, rehabilitation, or complex chronic conditions highly regarded
- Confidence working autonomously within a multidisciplinary mental health environment
- Strong clinical reasoning and the ability to adapt communication approaches to consumers across varying stages of recovery
- Alignment with SA Health's commitment to consumer-centred care and trauma-informed practice
- Current national criminal history clearance, or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement
To be eligible for this position, you must Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia.
