About the Role:
NALHN operates one of South Australia's busiest public health services, and its Urology team is recruiting for a Specialist Nurse Practitioner to step into a rewarding full-time, ongoing role. This pre-existing role will allow the successful candidate to operate to the full scope of their practice. Please note, NALHN will consider applications form current Nurse Practitioner candidates who have completed a substantial portion of the required components of their approved Masters of Nurse Practitioner course with experience in Urological Nursing.
What You'll Be Doing
Working within the Urology service at NALHN, you will deliver advanced, autonomous clinical care to a diverse patient population across the Adelaide Metro Northern region. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and management of urological conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings. This includes:
- - Independently performing scheduled diagnostic and surveillance flexi cystoscopy lists and associated required follow up on pathology and cytology
- - performing trial of void assessments, education patients to perform intermittent self-catheterisation and/or drainage, performing supra pubic catheter changes, post Botox installation reviews, bladder instillations clinics including BCG
- Leading clinical quality initiatives and contributing to service improvement within the urology unit
- Providing expert clinical urology advice to community nurses, general practitioners, patients and relatives to facilitate hospital avoidance where possible
- Prescribing medications and initiating referrals within your endorsed scope of practice
- Mentoring and supporting nursing staff to build team capability and advance urology nursing practice standards
What You Bring
- Current AHPRA registration as a Nurse Practitioner with an endorsed scope relevant to this role
- Demonstrated clinical experience in urology or a closely related specialty
- Proven ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team in a complex public health environment
- Strong skills in clinical assessment, diagnostics, and advanced care planning
- Commitment to SA Health's safety and quality frameworks, including the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights
- Effective communication skills tailored to patients, families, and specialist colleagues
To be eligible for this position, you must be

Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate with the notation of Nurse Practitioner.
