About the Role:
Continuity of care is at the heart of exceptional midwifery practice. At Lyell McEwin Health Service, the Northern Area Midwifery Group Practice (NAMGP) is built around this philosophy, enabling midwives to partner with women and families throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. If you are a midwife who believes in walking alongside women and families from early pregnancy through to postnatal care, these part-time ongoing positions offer the caseload model that lets you practise midwifery the way it was meant to be.
Your Role in the NAMGP
As a Midwife or Clinical Midwife within the NAMGP, you will provide primary continuity care across the full scope of the midwifery partnership model. Working within a small, collaborative group practice at Lyell McEwin Health Service, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing woman-centred, continuity of care across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal settings
- Managing a caseload in partnership with your MGP colleagues, including on-call responsibilities
- Collaborating with the broader NALHN multidisciplinary team to support women with complex care needs
- Contributing to quality improvement, clinical review, and the ongoing development of the NAMGP model
What You Bring
- Current registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated experience across antenatal, birthing, and postnatal care in an Australian clinical setting
- Understanding of and commitment to the Midwifery Group Practice model and the evidence supporting continuity of care
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with diverse communities in Adelaide's northern suburbs
- Willingness and availability to participate in on-call and after-hours rostering as part of the group practice model
- Alignment with SA Health's commitment to safe, person-centred, and culturally respectful care
To be eligible for this position, you must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Midwife, or as a Nurse and Midwife, and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practising certificate.

Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
