About The Role

Make a meaningful difference to the everyday lives of older people as the Leisure & Lifestyle Coordinator – Residential & Community Care at Penola War Memorial Hospital.

You will coordinate the development, delivery and evaluation of person-centred leisure and wellbeing programs that promote independence, social connection and quality of life. Working closely with people receiving services, their families and carers, you will ensure activities reflect individual interests, abilities, cultural needs and preferred lifestyles.

You will also coordinate staff and volunteers, maintain care and program documentation, build community partnerships and contribute to quality improvement and accreditation requirements across residential and community care services.

About You

You are an engaging and organised professional who is passionate about creating meaningful experiences for older people. You bring experience in person-centred leisure, lifestyle or wellbeing programs, strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to work with limited supervision while coordinating people, programs and competing priorities.

To succeed in the Leisure & Lifestyle Coordinator role, you will:

• Demonstrate experience developing or delivering leisure, lifestyle, wellbeing, recreation or person-centred support programs.
• Bring experience working with older people, people with disability or people with diverse support needs.
• Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with people receiving services, families, carers, staff and community stakeholders.
• Have experience coordinating the work or activities of employees, volunteers or students, while effectively managing competing priorities and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Demonstrate experience contributing to service evaluation, quality improvement or compliance activities, with sound digital skills including Microsoft O365.

There are no essential educational or vocational qualifications specified for the role. A Certificate IV or higher qualification in leisure and health, ageing support, disability support, community services, diversional therapy or another relevant field is desirable.

Residential and Community Care at Penola War Memorial Hospital supports people to maintain independence, wellbeing and meaningful connection through care that responds to their individual needs, preferences and lifestyle.

The Leisure and Wellbeing Program places individual choice and preferred lifestyle experiences at the centre of service delivery. Programs are designed to adapt as people's health, physical or cognitive needs change, with a restorative approach supporting individuals to maintain as much independence as possible.

Working across residential and community care, the team collaborates with families, carers, volunteers, multidisciplinary health professionals and community organisations to support meaningful participation, inclusion and quality of life.

Conditions of Employment

• A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position.
• A current NDIS Worker Screening Check is required.
• Immunisation Risk for this position is – Category B.
• SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
