About the Role:

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join The Gully, Northeast Clinical Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program team.

The Gully is a recovery focused rehabilitation program for people aged 18 to 65 years who have a lived experience of mental illness. The program provides clients an opportunity to work towards recovery goals through group work and individual sessions. The program’s occupational focus aims to facilitate change and support engagement in activities of daily living, work, social participation and interests.

The Gully coordinates the NECMHS OT Clinic. This service offers occupational therapy assessments and includes an intervention plan and recommendations based on the consumer’s occupational goals.

These services operate in the Northeast at Modbury. 

Your Role in the Program

Working part time on an ongoing basis, you will deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention within a psychosocial rehabilitation framework, while contributing to the broader clinical direction of the team.

  • Conduct comprehensive functional and occupational assessments for adults with complex mental health needs
  • Design and implement individualised, recovery-focused intervention plans in collaboration with consumers, carers, and the multidisciplinary team
  • Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and professional leadership to junior OT staff and students
  • Contribute to leadership, clinical overview, program development, quality improvement, and outcome measurement across The Gully North East service
What You Bring
  • Substantial post-graduate experience in mental health, with a demonstrated understanding of psychosocial rehabilitation principles
  • Leadership experience and values prioritising psychological safety of staff
  • Proven ability to apply a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed approach within a community or outpatient mental health setting
  • Experience providing clinical supervision or formal mentoring to less experienced clinicians
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage meaningfully with consumers, families, and inter-agency partners
  • Familiarity with SA Health policy frameworks and the Mental Health Act 2009 (SA) is highly regarded

To be eligible for this position, you must have an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification with registration as an Occupational Therapist with AHPRA.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role. Creative with a passion for rehabilitation within a group work model.
