About the position
A Level B academic with a teaching-focused appointment is expected to work independently, without the need for close supervision, while contributing to high-quality learning and teaching outcomes.
Key responsibilities include curriculum development, subject coordination, teaching, and supporting students in their learning journey.
In addition to teaching, the academic will contribute to the administrative functions of the discipline and undertake scholarly work that enhances learning and teaching practices within their field. A teaching-focused academic is expected to demonstrate ongoing excellence in teaching, aligned with the La Trobe Teaching Excellence Principles, and maintain a strong track record of performance through evidence-based measures such as Student Feedback on Teaching (SFT) surveys, peer evaluations, and other relevant indicators.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have
• PhD (or near completion) or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline areas: completion of a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, or similar qualification/training, would be an advantage.
• Expertise in health services management, for example, financial management, health management and leadership, strategy and operations management, and project management, and at least one discipline area of public health.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development and subject coordination in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, as evidenced by sustained high results on student feedback on teaching surveys, teaching excellence awards or through other forms of evidence.
• Demonstrated competence in teaching and curriculum development.
• Evidence of innovative initiatives undertaken in the last three years that have improved the student experience, and the evaluation of effectiveness of these initiatives.
