About the position
This position is required to work as part of a technical team which supports (primarily) Teaching/Learning activities along with research activities within the Science disciplines on the Bundoora Campus. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Facilities and Technical Services, this position has responsibility for the following:
- day to day management of a technical team supporting the Science delivery programs with undergraduate laboratory teaching from a range of disciplines across the School of Science, Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment (SABE) at the Bundoora campus
- day to day support for the FTS staff working in the SABE precinct
- Stakeholder management with the school and other divisions of the University
- Participation with the emergency response programs including after-hours call out
- It is an essential requirement to support classes as timetabled; flexibility may be required for this role as some classes start at 8am and some finish at 6pm.
Skills and Experience
- Experience with facility (laboratory) management.
- Familiarity with a wide range of scientific equipment and laboratory infrastructure, its use, maintenance and management.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety regulations, procedures and practices as applied to high-risk laboratory settings.
- Proficiency in computer software packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience and understanding of chemical use and safety in laboratory settings.
- Proficient with leading team meetings and representing FTS within stakeholder meetings.
- Proven experience and success in managing staff performance and development.
