About the role:
La Trobe University is seeking an empathetic, proactive and knowledgeable Accessibility Services Librarian to join the Library Learning Services team. In this newly created position, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring Library services are inclusive and accessible for all, particularly neurodiverse individuals and those with disabilities.
You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders such as the Inclusive Resources Department and contribute to sector-leading initiatives like the Universal Design Implementation Action Plan. This is your opportunity to build capability across the Library and University community through tailored services, training, and advocacy.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to neurodiverse students and students with disabilities
- Design and deliver inclusive literacy programs and digital learning resources
- Collaborate on professional development for Library staff focused on accessibility
- Liaise with sector experts to ensure best-practice approaches
- Represent the Library on relevant committees and advisory groups
What we’re looking for:
- A strong understanding of disability legislation and inclusive education principles
- Demonstrated experience working in library services, ideally within higher education
- Effective communication and advocacy skills
- A commitment to universal design and equitable learning experiences
- Strong organisational, problem-solving, and collaboration capabilities
