We're looking for someone with lived and/or living experience of mental health challenges, particularly with insight into the experiences of young people navigating mental health systems, to join our team as a Research Assistant.
This paid casual role involves interviewing young people (aged 16–26) over Zoom about their experiences attending discovery college courses.
Discovery college is a youth-focused community space for learning about mental health, exploring topics like psychosis, self-harm, sensory modulation, suicidality, medication, and anxiety.
This casual role is part of a research project that aims to better understand the real-life impact of discovery college from the perspective of the young people who take part.
As the Research Assistant, you'll:
- Conduct Zoom interviews with around 25–30 young people
- Help analyse the interviews
- Contribute to writing up the findings
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has lived and/ or living experience of mental health challenges, with insights into the experiences of young people in mental health systems.
- Has some experience doing research interviews
- Has a basic understanding of qualitative research
- Has or is willing to obtain a valid Employee Victorian Working with Children Check
The role is casual at the Higher Education Officer (HEO) 5 pay scale rate $52.28 per hour and will involve about 100 hours of work, to be completed by December 2025.
