The Leadership Academy at La Trobe University is a sector-leading centre of excellence designed to build consistent, high-impact leadership capability across all levels of the organisation. Established in 2025, it brings the University’s Leadership Strategy and Framework to life, equipping leaders at every stage of their journey with the mindsets, behaviours and capabilities needed to lead effectively.

Through a connected, multi-modal suite of initiative, including flagship programs such as Leadership Redefined, targeted cohort experiences and masterclasses, the Leadership Academy creates a shared language and standard for leadership. In doing so, it strengthens culture and performance, supporting the delivery of La Trobe’s Strategic Plan 2025–2030.

 

About the position

The Leadership Academy Program Designer & Facilitator plays a central role in advancing La Trobe’s leadership capability through its sector-leading centre of excellence, the Leadership Academy. Acting as both a program designer and internal consultant, the role partners with stakeholders to identify capability needs and determine effective development solutions.

This position is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of contemporary leadership programs that foster consistent leadership practices across the University. It involves translating strategic priorities into high-impact learning experiences, creating scalable and engaging programs, and facilitating learning that drives meaningful behavioural change.

 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and significant experience in leadership development, instructional design or organisational learning, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end design and delivery of leadership programs, from needs analysis through to evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles, with the ability to translate strategy into structured, high-impact learning experiences.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver engaging, scalable learning solutions across face-to-face, virtual and hybrid environments.
  • Experience developing high-quality learning assets, including program architecture, facilitator guides, participant resources and digital content.
