About the position

We are seeking a dedicated Lecturer to develop, coordinate and deliver a high-quality learning experience that actively engages students through tutorials and practical classes. The successful candidate will demonstrate a scholarly approach to learning and teaching and participate in the innovative design, development and review of course-level curriculum.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the role involves conducting and publishing high-quality and/or high-impact research, either independently or as part of a team. You will also co-supervise or supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR) postgraduate students as required, providing academic mentorship and support. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant academic community with access to resources that support professional growth and impactful scholarship.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have

  • PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline areas.
  • Demonstrated competence in teaching and curriculum development.
  • Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research conducted and published or otherwise disseminated, relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, or co-supervise, honours and postgraduate students.
  • High level organisational skills with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, initiate and follow-up actions, all with minimal or no supervision.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Experience in the preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies and evidence of success in securing research funding.
  • Proven experience and success in subject coordination and managing a teaching team.
  • Knowledge, expertise and skills in at least one of the following areas: food security/systems, lifespan nutrition, food habits/behaviour, public health or clinical nutrition.
  • Ability to teach into subjects including: lifespan nutrition, principles of nutrition, nutrition and disease, sports nutrition, public health nutrition, clinical nutrition/dietetics, research skills, and food chemistry/science.
