About the position
La Trobe Rural Health School (LRHS) is Australia’s largest rural health school, with campuses in Bendigo, Mildura, Shepparton, and Albury-Wodonga. We offer a wide range of health programs and are committed to improving rural health and wellbeing through graduates and research.
Our Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) combines in-person and online learning with strong industry partnerships, giving students valuable placement experiences in diverse health and human service settings. The program is focused on building social work capacity in regional and rural communities.
A Level B teaching-focused academic will work independently to design curriculum, coordinate subjects, teach, and support student learning. The role also involves contributing to discipline administration and engaging in scholarly activities that advance learning and teaching in the field.
Some of your duties will include
- Lead curriculum design and development by creating innovative, evidence-based subjects and courses that integrate employability skills, promote student success, and meet accreditation and policy requirements.
- Oversee student assessment processes, including the preparation, validation, marking, and moderation of assessments, and provide constructive, timely, and fair feedback in line with university policies and procedures.
- Deliver student-focused support, such as consultation and guidance, to foster positive learning outcomes and address individual learning needs.
- Incorporate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning in face-to-face, blended, and online settings.
Skills & Experience
- Postgraduate qualification such as a PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the Social Work discipline.
- Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development and subject coordination in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, and evidenced by sustained high results on student feedback on teaching surveys, teaching excellence awards, peer-review of teaching, formal training (eg a graduate certificate) or through other equivalent forms of evidence.
- Relevant contemporary clinical/professional experience as relevant in social work.
- Consolidated skills in the use of evidence-based practice in social work and human services and teaching and learning.
