About the position

The Senior Coordinator - Intake plays a key role in supporting student health and wellbeing by providing high-quality initial assessments, crisis interventions, and coordination of student wellbeing requests across Wellbeing Services. This role involves a range of responsibilities, including crisis intervention, risk assessments, safety planning, psycho-social evaluations, care coordination, advocacy, supportive counselling, and interim case management, as needed.

In cases where students' needs are better served by external services, the Senior Coordinator - Intake will facilitate referrals. Additionally, the role involves triaging and coordinating care for students seeking support from Wellbeing Services. The senior coordinator ensures that assessments and interventions are delivered in a trauma-informed, victim-centered manner, prioritizing both student safety and effective care.

The ultimate goal is to ensure students receive the appropriate services in a timely and secure manner, while managing any immediate risks or crises until a suitable service can take over their care.

 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have

  • Qualifications in social work or psychology or other relevant tertiary qualification, with significant post-qualification and extensive (5 years) relevant experience in intake, crisis or acute clinical work, case management, counselling, and wellbeing support, including eligibility for membership of AASW (Australian Association of Social Work) or registration as a psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency) or a relevant professional body.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis case management roles or acute high-demand roles with experience in managing complex psychosocial issues, behavioral management, crisis intervention, risk assessment, and managing a demanding caseload.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in addition to excellent interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in working with diverse client groups, including the ability to engage and build rapport with complex clients.
  • Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills, including effective time management, ability to work autonomously, strategies to successfully balance priorities, and positive self-care.
