  • Base salary starting from $106,472 per annum (pro rata .6) + 17% Superannuation

About the position

The Student Advisor provides specialised advice and advocacy to students, monitoring their progress and delivering tailored, proactive support to promote academic success and persistence. Student Advisors may be assigned to support specific student cohorts (for example, by discipline, campus location, or mode of study), with a strong focus on assisting students considered ‘at risk’.

This role works closely with academic staff, ASK La Trobe team members, and specialists from other University divisions to provide high-quality advice and support. Student Advisors also connect students with relevant University resources to help meet their needs or resolve issues, with the ultimate aim of supporting student success and retention.

The incumbent will play a key role in supporting the collection of student interaction data and activities, as well as contributing to projects aligned with the Student Advising function.

 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 4 years subsequent
  • experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate
  • combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams.
  • Demonstrated organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to manage several
  • different projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated skills in research, evaluation, or interpretation of data.
