About the position
The focus of this role will be on bioanalytical chemistry for biosensing, requiring technical laboratory expertise in surface modification and characterisation of nanophotonic devices.
This position will contribute to building a critical mass of research support and expertise in developing biosensors for a wide range of sensing applications. A key impact outcome of this work will be the development of biosensors aimed at improving sensitivity, selectivity, and reliability across diverse detection contexts and end-user requirements.
Skills and Experience
The incumbent will work as a member of Distinguished Prof. Brian Abbey's group and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of surface functionalisation of the biosensor platform. The successful applicant will collaborate with colleagues from across the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (SCEMS) and the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS), as well as external industry partners working across application areas.
To be successful in this role, the incumbent will require experience as a bioanalytical chemist, with particular expertise ideally including modifying surfaces, performing electrochemical measurements, characterising nanophotonic devices using optical and electron microscopy, and preparing tissue and cell culture samples.
