Energy Markets (EM) is the commercial heart of the SSE Group, securing value for SSE's asset portfolios in wholesale energy markets as we move towards our vision of being a leading energy company in a net zero world. EM plays a critical role as the asset optimiser, route to market and risk management function for all SSE's Business Units (Wind, Hydro, Low Carbon Thermal, Distributed Energy and Customer portfolios). EM enables SSE to focus its expertise and capabilities in energy markets (including Trading, Risk Management, Energy Economics and Advanced Analytics) in one centre of excellence and, with these enhanced capabilities, support value creation and decision-making across the SSE Group.
The role:
The role will contribute to the design and delivery of cloud services delivered within SSE Energy Markets Cloud Platform Services team, the primary objective is to drive Cloud Infrastructure enhancements, develop the toolchain and automation patterns required to empower transformation.
You Will
- Team Leadership & Agile Delivery: Lead and develop a cross-functional engineering team, collaborating with Product Owners and Delivery Leads to manage backlogs, and actively participate in agile ceremonies.
- Cloud & Platform Management: Drive cloud adoption, oversee platform and application configuration, installation, and lifecycle management, while contributing to system design and architecture.
- Operational Excellence: Manage incidents, problems, and changes within SLAs, implement automation for efficiency, and ensure secure, well-maintained IT services through patching and vulnerability management. Be part of an On-call support rota.
- Support & Service Continuity: Design support practices, onboard new systems, maintain application schedules, and participate in an on-call support rota to ensure service reliability.
You Have
- Cloud Engineering & Architecture: Strong expertise in Azure Cloud, Event Hubs, event-driven architecture, and cloud orchestration/containerization techniques.
- Infrastructure & Automation: Proficient in Infra-as-Code tools like Terraform, building and managing Azure DevOps pipelines, and developing logic apps.
- Development & Integration: Skilled in .NET, C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript, YAML, and experienced in creating system integrations via APIs and connectors.
- Operational Excellence: Familiar with ITIL processes, Agile/DevOps practices, cloud operations, and tools like Visual Studio and Azure DevOps.
