Energy Markets (EM) is the commercial heart of the SSE Group, securing value for SSE's asset portfolios in wholesale energy markets as we move towards our vision of being a leading energy company in a net zero world. EM plays a critical role as the asset optimiser, route to market and risk management function for all SSE's Business Units (Wind, Hydro, Low Carbon Thermal, Distributed Energy and Customer portfolios). EM enables SSE to focus its expertise and capabilities in energy markets (including Trading, Risk Management, Energy Economics and Advanced Analytics) in one centre of excellence and, with these enhanced capabilities, support value creation and decision-making across the SSE Group.

The role

The Service Delivery Manager is responsible for end-to-end operations and continual improvement of Energy Markets IT estate which consists of cloud based, hybrid and on-premise platforms and services. This includes end to end ownership and management of service performance, availability, capacity, incidents, and problems impacting service provision.

The role is accountable for ensuring that the portfolio of Energy Markets IT Services meet customer requirements and is delivered in with regulatory and security policies. 

This is a critical operational role, overseeing the processes, teams and 3rd party organisations involved in day-to-day service management, the successful candidate will combine technical expertise with business acumen to deliver sustainable value through IT services.

You Will

  • Oversees end-to-end service delivery and operations across Cloud, hybrid, and legacy platforms, ensuring alignment with ITSM standards and organizational policies.
  • Ensures compliance with Operational and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by managing internal support teams and third-party providers, and monitoring service performance through KPIs and metrics.
  • Manages strategic relationships with external suppliers and industry bodies, fostering collaboration and maintaining effective partnerships across the supply chain.
  • Acts as a liaison for vendor security compliance, particularly within Energy Markets, and drives continuous improvement through robust reporting and service management processes.

You Have

  • Proven expertise in IT Service Management within complex, multi-platform environments, supported by ITIL Manager or Expert certification and a strong track record across the full service lifecycle.
  • Extensive experience in supplier and vendor management, ensuring service delivery aligns with contractual obligations and fostering collaborative, value-driven relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in managing diverse service delivery models—including in-house, outsourced, and hybrid setups—with consistent achievement of SLAs and operational targets.
  • Strong understanding of Cloud technologies and delivery models, with the ability to align technical capabilities to business value and drive service innovation.
