The role

The Cyber Threat Intelligence Lead manages the small team responsible for production and dissemination of threat intelligence, threat hunting across the SSE environment and providing threat informed understanding of the organisation's attack surface.  The Lead is a part of SSE's Threat Detection and Response (TDR) function and works closely with stakeholders across SSE's businesses and externally.

You will

  • Oversee and deliver cyber threat intelligence to stakeholder requirements and act as a subject matter expert in understanding of the cyber threat to SSE, including threats to operational technology.
  • Provide tactical threat intelligence to the wider Cyber Defence team in support of incident response activities and emerging external threats.
  • Oversee and deliver advanced threat hunting and analysis based on known high threat actor tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) using SIEM tools and available data sets.
  • Oversee and deliver attack surface investigation activities, delivering actionable reporting which links TTPs to identified weaknesses and recommended mitigations based on appropriate security frameworks and standards.
  • Work with stakeholders to communicate potential weaknesses and identify appropriate follow on and remediation activities.

You have

  • Good experience of managing technical and/or functional delivery of cyber security activities and deliverables and professional security certification(s) and experience covering threat analysis or offensive security.
  • Experience conducting TTP led threat hunting activities based on threat intelligence and experience evaluating organisational attack surfaces using appropriate technical capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate cyber threat intelligence to a high standard both verbally and written in a way that can be understood by a range of stakeholders, including non-technical.
  • Strong familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and other cyber threat intelligence concepts and frameworks and experience with threat intelligence collaboration and sharing protocols internally, externally and with government/regulatory partners.
  • Team-oriented interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with a broad range of people and roles, including security professionals, vendors and IT/OT and business personnel.
