General Manager People Operations - The Star Sydney

The General Manager People Operations role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer for The Star Sydney to support the effective implementation of the People Plan, and to achieve our core business objectives.

This is a fantastic opportunity where you can influence key people and business-related decisions and play a strategic role in continually improving the employee experience for our team members.

A few of your responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the property-based People team, collaborating to deliver a consistent, efficient and proactive strategic people agenda.
  • Lead, develop and coach the People Operations team to deliver optimum services to their partnered business leaders.
  • Coach, develop and empower senior stakeholders to perform as leaders, and deliver on the People operating model.
  • Ensure effective business partnering to facilitate a strong understanding of business needs, enabling the provision of strategic people advice, collaboration and consistency inclusive of:
    • The delivery of the property-based Talent Acquisition needs, attracting and selecting, emerging talent;
    • Support the development and execution of the Property learning and development needs;
    • The provision of ER support, and advisory.
  • Provide People insights to both the group functions, and the other Property People teams to enable/support strategic goals to be delivered in alignment for the group wide initiatives or needs.

What we will be looking for: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 10 years work experience in a human resource related role (with 5 years at a senior level).
  • Strong relationship, coaching, influencing and communication skills.
  • Experience in employee relations with sound knowledge of employment law and enterprise bargaining negotiations.
  • Knowledge of the Australian Employment Law landscape, or the ability to come up to speed quickly.
  • Regulatory experience, including in remediation contexts.
  • Experience in the casino and/or other highly regulated sectors as well as hospitality or other customer focused environments.
