The Star Brisbane is Australia’s newest entertainment hub at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct. The first phase is now open, with more venues and experiences on the way. The Star Brisbane offers a variety of new dining, bars, and unique entertainment options. It also includes a five-star luxury hotel, The Star Grand, and a state-of-the-art Event Centre.
This transformational project has brought even more excitement and anticipation to burgeoning Brisbane. It will redefine how people play, shop, and socialise in the river city.
We are now seeking a passionate and proactive Safety Advisor to join our Safety & Risk Assurance team at The Star Brisbane. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make an impact in our newest property, helping to shape a proactive and engaged safety culture from the ground up.

A few of your responsibilities
- Support the implementation of The Star’s Safety Management System (SMS) across the property
- Build strong partnerships with operational leaders to embed safety practices into daily operations
- Identify risks, implement controls, and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in audits, inspections, and investigations to drive best practice outcomes
- Support emergency management and safety action planning at property level
- Deliver WHS-related training for team members and contractors
- Monitor and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely completion
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, internal policies, and The Star’s Code of Conduct
- Contribute to sustainability goals through safety-related initiatives
What we are looking for
- Minimum 3 years WHS experience in a complex operational environment (e.g., hospitality, construction, industrial)
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to influence and engage with stakeholders across all levels
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation, systems, and controls
- Experience in reviewing risk assessments and WHS plans
- Experience in facilitating or delivering safety training
- Desirable: tertiary qualifications in WHS, WHS auditing experience, and SMS implementation
